2) Of the one's you haven't seen, I strongly recommend the following (in order of their release): Metropolis (1927) Duck Soup (1933) Sunset Blvd (1950) The Seven Samurai (1954) The Sting (1973) Chinatown (1974) Das Boot (1981)
There's other good movies up there that you didn't list as having seen, but these are the one's I'd recommend most (The Sting, in particular, I think you'd really like). Metropolis & Sunset Blvd you might enjoy more if you watch the special features on a DVD, since there's some subtle items (references to items copied by future film makers, setting the films in the context of when they were released, and even the other card players with Gloria Swanson) in both that you might not catch on a casual viewing, although both are fine films in their own right. Das Boot is much better subtitled (the dubbed version was an early release that had some translations so bad that even I caught the mistakes). Many people have problems with the pacing of Seven Samurai, but that's not really a knock on the film. Duck Soup is just funny, and Chinatown may be the best film I've ever seen.
Oh well, that's my $0.02 worth. I own all of the ones I recommended, plus several of the others, if you ever want to borrow anything.

Two comments:1) IMDB's top 100 is a rather mixed bag.
